This year’s Nationals will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the A9X Torana and will be held in Bathurst on

17-18-19th November 2017.

For those of you intending on travelling by car, Bathurst is a 3-hour drive from the centre of Sydney, an 8-hour drive

from Melbourne, and an 11 hour drive from Brisbane (with additional time to be added for stops of course).
If you’re thinking about flying in, Regional Express Airlines (REX) provide daily services to and from Sydney
(the flight time is about 30 minutes with a few minutes to be added either side for take-off and landing).
Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from other cities.

The Club has secured a number of rooms at a Motel within Bathurst and all the details can be found in the latest

edition of the Club Newsletter.

Please Note:

Whilst the Club has secured a generous number of rooms, they will only be available exclusive to our Club until the end of September. After that you’ll have to take your chances with everybody else.

Planning for the 2017 Nationals is well underway and for those Members who are interested in the itinerary for the weekend, we can advise you of the following:

Thursday 16th November:

Thursday is arrival day and no doubt the afternoon will be spent catching up on old and new acquaintances over an ale or two (and possibly some wine) in the motel carpark.  There is a Dinner booking with the motel restaurant for that evening and everyone is invited to attend.

Friday 17th November:

Friday will be Dam Day.  The day will commence with a short drive to check out Chifley Dam, followed by a longer drive to the Blayney Wind Farm located near Carcoar Dam.  From there it will be off for an even longer drive to Wyangala Dam where we will stop for a BBQ lunch.  The afternoon will then consist of a yet-to-be-confirmed stop-over in Cowra before heading back to Bathurst via the Mid-Western Highway.  There will be time to give the cars a spruce-up before we head off uptown to a Dinner engagement at Pantano’s Bar & Grill.

Saturday 18th November:

No trip to Bathurst is complete without a lap around Mount Panorama, and Saturday will be the day to do just that.  The morning will start with a tour of the National Motor Racing Museum (and Brocky’s statue) to be followed by a couple of photo-opportunities at The Mountain, and then the chance to have a spin around the track itself.  Unfortunately, the spin will have to be at 60 km/h as the track is a dedicated public road and as such, everyone will have to behave themselves.

From here it will be off on another drive through the countryside where we will end up at the Tarana Pub for lunch.  What’s left of the afternoon will be spent making it back to Bathurst in time to give the cars a clean before we head indoors for the AGM which will then be followed by the official Welcoming Dinner (both to be held at the motel).  Fingers crossed in the hope that we might have a Special Guest join us for the dinner!

Sunday 19th November:

Sunday is traditionally Show & Shine day at the Nationals and this year will be no different.  After a couple of days (and nights) of being on-the-go it will be time to slow down and leisurely take part in the Bathurst Swap Meet, Car & Bike Show. The event will be held at the Bathurst Showground and it will be a good day out for everyone with the show & shine being held in conjunction with the Bathurst Outdoor Expo and Christmas Markets - so there’ll be heaps to see and do for the whole family.

So there it is… while the planning is progressing quite well, nothing is completely written in stone and some items may be subject to change.

The Nationals Registration Form (available from The Secretary) must be completed if you wish to attend any of the events over the weekend.  It would be appreciated if you could complete the form and return it by 30th September 2017 to assist us with planning and catering.  If you do not complete and return the Registration Form we cannot guarantee your participation in all the events.

Completed Registration Forms can be emailed to: or sent to the club address at:

The Club will again be providing a ‘Goodies Bag’ for all financial members who attend the event, to include a special memento, complimentary cap and commemorative patch.  A Nationals Shirt will also be available and Men’s sizes will range from S to 5XL, whilst the Women’s sizes will range from 8 to 24.

All Cheques and Money Orders for Nationals Shirts and additional Nationals Patches are to be made payable to the A.T.C.A. Inc.  If you’d like to pay by direct deposit into the Club's bank account, please make sure you include your name and/or membership number so we can identify your payment.

So there you have it… the Event is really taking shape and we should have a great turn-out of both cars and members.   In fact it’s turning out to be one of the biggest A9X gatherings that we have had in some time, so do yourself a favour and get that Torana out of the shed and get involved!

Hope to see you all there!
